Sessions: When the Market's Awake
Forex trades around the clock, but it isn't equally alive around the clock. The day rolls through three great sessions — Asia, London, New York — and knowing their rhythm is like knowing when the tide's in.
The daily rhythm
Asia (roughly midnight to 8am UK) is usually the quiet shift — yen pairs stir, majors often drift in tight ranges. London (8am to 4pm) is the main event: the world's largest forex hub wakes up, spreads tighten, and the day's real direction frequently gets set in the first few hours. New York (1pm to 9pm) overlaps London through the afternoon — that 1pm-4pm window is the loudest part of the whole day, and it's when US economic news lands.
Why timing changes everything
The same strategy can thrive at 9am and die at 11pm, because a market with no participants doesn't move cleanly — it drifts, snaps and fakes. Range-trading Asia and momentum-trading the London open are different sports. Most beginners lose money at hours pros simply don't work.
The London bias
You'll notice our daily analysis publishes before the London open. That's deliberate: for UK traders, London is the session — the best liquidity, the cleanest moves, your body clock's prime time. Trade the hours where the market — and you — are actually awake.
